Chipwi Nge HPP

Chipwi Nge HPP is the first hydropower station invested and built by SPICYN in Myanmar. Close to Chipwi City in Kachin State in Northern Myanmar, It was built on the Chipwi River, a primary tributary of Nmai Hka River in the upper reaches of the Ayeyarwaddy River, 80km to Panwa port and 120km to Myitkyina. It is the main power source in Kachin State, supplying power to Myitkyina, Mogaung, Mohnyin and Phakant.

The installed capacity of Chipwi Nge HPP is 99MW, the design annual average power generation is 599 million kWh, the total storage capacity of its reservoir is 1.234 million m3 and the normal pool level elevation of reservoir is 740m. The project started construction in 2007 and was put into operation in September 2011. As of 30 September 2020, it had accumulatively generated electricity of 1.229 billion kWh.
